My New Writing Space
GREETINGS!
The Bi-Weekly Story Journal is a newsletter celebrating an appreciation of the short story and creative nonfiction.
BI-WEEKLY I post a short piece of fiction or nonfiction. You’ll find a series of these pieces on writing as daily meditation, another on story writing, and a series of memories and reflections on my 30 years living in the Loring neighborhood of Minneapolis writing, teaching, and trying to wrestle my demons to at least a stalemate. The first series I posted was Very Bad Buddhist, which has its own section on this site.
I will post the 1st and 15th of every month. Theme will vary widely.
At present, because of the fraught political situation in our country, I will be posting some short essays that I hope speak to this moment. It’s a new genre for me, so I’m learning as I’m going. Take a look and let me know how I’m doing.

COMMUNITY: As time goes on, I want this journal to evolve into a community of readers and writers. That’s going to take some time. The first step I’d like to take in that direction, though, is to suggest that my readers also check out BoomerLitMag, a literary journal my longtime friend Leonard Lang and I started a few years ago. I left our journal a while back to focus on my own writing, but Leonard continues to put out excellent editions of poetry and prose.
